Theresa Ho

Nature Journaling and Curiosity Workshop

Sunday, November 2 • 9:30am - 12:15pm

Blending mindful observation with creative expression, this nature journaling session offers a gentle way to slow down, notice more deeply, and connect with the natural world around us. Together, we’ll explore simple drawing, writing, and reflection practices that sharpen attention and curiosity. You’ll learn how a nature journal can become both a grounding practice and a playful tool for discovery.

Come with an open mind, a sense of wonder, and prepare to explore different perspectives, all while filling journal pages with your unique reflections of this beautiful region.

What Participants Should Bring to the Workshop

  • Yoga mat, towel, or something that you don’t mind sitting on outdoors

  • Pencil, pen, and notebook or journal

  • (Optional) Art supplies to add a splash of color. This could be colored pencils, watercolors, or other paints, pastels, or colored pens/markers. A limited number of supplies will be available to use.

  • Warm layers (part of this session will be outside, and November mornings can be chilly)

  • Refillable water bottle

THERESA HO, Ph.D.

After getting a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology / Neuroscience from UC Berkeley, Theresa settled in Yosemite on what was meant to be a rock climbing sabbatical in April 2003. Then, as Lee Hayes would put it, that sabbatical turned into a Mondical and a Tuesdical. She and her husband have been living full-time in Yosemite ever since.

Over the years, she’s worked in various jobs for the concessioner and volunteered for NPS in both the Interpretation and Resource Management & Science (RMS) divisions. Despite nurturing a long-time love of creative expression, nature, and learning, she only seriously discovered nature journaling in 2023. Imagine her delight when she realized that it is a combination of all those things, plus a community filled with generosity, curiosity, and wonder. Inspired, she started the Yosemite Nature Journaling Group in September 2024, which meets monthly in Yosemite Valley and organizes occasional Field Trips to various parts of the park.
