MEET ANNA
Anna Friedland is a Mariposa-based artist specializing in illustration and graphic design. Anna worked for the Mariposa County Arts Council for five years—developing, teaching, and coordinating art programs, before starting her own design business in 2017.
In April 2023, she started Foothill Arts + Lectures, a popular program that reconnects the community through talks by local artists. Fostering the arts, culture, and humanities is of great importance to her.
Friedland is closely tied to the land. Her art process begins on walks, where she closely studies Sierra Foothill flora and fauna at different elevations and in different seasons. Stewardship and celebration for nature are common themes in her work. She seeks to create beautiful visual art that educates, clearly communicates, and makes the world a better place.
In addition to lending her graphic design expertise, she joins Balanced Rock to facilitate educational sessions during the Art, Nature, & Wellness Program’s immersive cohort in March 2026 which will focus on branding, graphic design, small business tools, and creative entrepreneurship, all skills that are transferable across the arts, wellness, hospitality, and outdoor sectors.
